Château Pédesclaux

Château Pédesclaux

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

Pretty color of ruby with a wide reddish rim.

Light nose and medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate and complex.

Showing red cherries, currants, black plums, light oak, spices, herbs, earth, chocolates, licorice and peppercorn.

Medium finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a very tasty Cabernet Sauvignon based blend from Pauillac. Spicy and fruity. Smooth and elegant, with good structure and balance.

This 10 year old still feels young, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years. Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years.

Robert Parker 90 points.

I had a few different vintages of this wine and it is very consistent, and much better with age.

Easy drinking and good by itself as a sipping wine. Will pair nicely with food too.

A blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot. Aged in (60% new) French Oak barrels for 18 months.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

Fleur de Pedesclaux

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

Expect a lot from this wine. This is the second wine of Cháteau Pédesclaux , Deep , violet, dark- plum oak cherry harmony in the nose . Spiced - perfumed oak ... Odd resemblance to Californian Cabernet . Tastes more on the meritage side of winemaking — 9 years ago

Château d'Armailhac

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2020

2020 vintage. Nose is classic Pauillac , with cassis and lead pencil. Juicy black fruit, with the freshness of the vintage, but the tannin is a bit rough, and it lacks a bit of length. Good, but seems to be outperformed by other estates at the same price point ( Pédesclaux, Lynch-Moussas, La Lagune to name just a few). Abv. 13%. — a year ago

Château Lafon-Rochet

Saint-Estèphe Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2020

2020 vintage. A blend of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot and equal parts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Basile Tesseron has done a great job at this Cru Classé and this 2020 is the best I have ever tasted. Blackberries, cassis and flowers. Juicy and focused, with lots of charm in a solid ripe tannic structure. Lovely finish with retronasal black fruit and minerality.Abv. 13,5%. As the estate was bought by the Lorenzetti family (Pédesclaux) I expect the quality to rise further in the future, so this is definitely an estate to watch. — 3 years ago

A long underperforming 5th growth, that has undergone critical investments and seen dramatic turn around. Now under the same ownership/management as Lilian Ladouys. — 12 years ago

Château de Gironville

Cru Bourgeois Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

2018 vintage. One of the estates that was owned by the late Vincent Mulliez ( who died young in 2010) and sold ( together with Belle-Vue and Bolaire) to Treasury in 2021. This 2018 is the first 100% Cabernet Sauvignon wine in the history of the estate, and at the time, it was still consulted by Vincent Bache Gabrielsen, who is doing an amazing job at Pédesclaux these days. Cassis, leather, cedar, and a hint of graphite. Medium-bodied, with juicy black fruit and ripe tannin, balances by mouthwatering acidity. Very good value. — 2 years ago

Château Lilian Ladouys

Saint Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

2018 vintage. This estate was bought by Jacky Lorenzetti in 2007 and the investments are paying off (see also the spectacular quality improvement at their Pauillac estate Pédesclaux). While previous vintages featured a majority of Merlot, this 2018 is a blend of 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37%. Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot. This might very well be the best vintage to date for Lilian Ladouys in a year where Jacky's daughter Manon joined the business. She is highly devoted to organic farming and the Lorenzetti estates are now officially in conversion to organic. Moreover, Lilian Ladouys was promoted to "Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel" status in 2020. An estate to watch and the wines are very affordable too at around 20 euros. Classic nose with ripe cassis and cedar wood, intertwined with a fresh minty aroma. In the mouth the fruit is concentrated and layered with amazing freshness and a solid ripe tannin structure that make the alcohol (abv. 14,5%) go unnoticed. Long mineral finish. Highly recommended. Still very young, give it time to open up or decant. Should age beautifully for at least 15 years. — 4 years ago
