The best Vermentino so far.
This one has the floral essences I've come to expect of Tuscan Vermentino but it also has an earthy depth mixed with a lemon custardness that I haven't seen until now. I've heard it described of other wines as 'sweet mushrooms'. That plus the smell of the sea.
On the pallette it's distinctly salty (unless that's the ocean air on my lips?) and has the most rounded, soft acids, but not flabby at all, taught and racy but with an elegant and refined edges. — 2 months ago

Better Raccaro than the last few times I’ve had it. Has the clear character of Friuli — 4 years ago

Aldo Vaira took control of the family vineyards in 1968, when he was just 15 years old. Today, G.D. Vajra consists of 150 acres, mostly around the commune of Barolo.
Ruby with a rich bouquet of fruit, spices and floral notes, fruit from several vineyards, aged 26 months in Slavonian oak casks. On the palate flavors of cherry and raspberry with notes of pepper, cinnamon and floral, slight earthy notes. Long finish, nice balance with fine soft tannins ending with earthy floral notes. Enjoyable now, a few more years will benefit. — 10 months ago

Non vintage, venezia giulia igt.
What a nose... chocolate, mint, oak, tar, leather, cherry, so much is happening... the palate is showing a massive acid drive, cherry and oaky notes all along. There is width, matter, you could almost chew it. The mid palate is massive. It's a big powerful ball of gentle, slightly drying tannins that power up a superlative finish with sour cherry, chocolate, nice oaky notes and that tiny minty touch that lifts everything. It's a massive wine which is masterfully treading on a very thin thread without ever being too much in any shape or form. — 24 days ago
