1990 vintage. An under the radar Pomerol, bought in 1961 by the grandfather of current owner Nathalie Despagne. He also owned La Tour Figeac in Saint-Emilion and La Rose Figeac is just across the Saint-Emilion border. The 4,56 hectare vineyard consists of 9 parcels (all within 500 m of each other) on gravelly sandy soils and is planted with Merlot (90%) and Cabernet Franc. My bottle had a near-perfect level and as the smell was a bit musty upon opening, but there was still good fruit in the mouth and the colour looked very solid, I took the risk to decant it. It turned out to be a wise decision as the wine evolved positively, even if the tannins remained a bit rustic. On the other hand it still has lively fruit and freshness, it is a testimony to the ageing potential of Bordeaux wines and an attractive food wine. Abv. 12,8% . — 4 years ago

Biface Despagne 2024 — Entre-Deux-Mers AOP, Bordeaux, France 🇫🇷
Overview
A classic 50/50 Sauvignon Blanc–Sémillon blend from Entre-Deux-Mers crafted by Thibault Despagne. A value-driven Bordeaux Blanc that leans into freshness, precision, and balance. Clean, expressive, and built for everyday enjoyment.
Aromas & Flavors
Fresh-cut grass, lime zest, green pear, white peach skin, and delicate white flowers. The Sauvignon Blanc brings lift and tension, while the Sémillon adds subtle honeyed nuance and soft orchard fruit.
Mouthfeel
Light to medium body, crisp and lively. Bright acidity with a sharp, refreshing finish. The Sémillon gently rounds the edges, keeping the wine harmonious and smooth without losing energy.
Food Pairings
Seafood rice, grilled shrimp, oysters, goat cheese, ceviche, or simple light dishes with herbs and citrus.
Verdict
An incredibly affordable and versatile Bordeaux Blanc that overdelivers for its category. Refreshing, balanced, and dependable, a graceful everyday white that performs in any season.
Did You Know?
Entre-Deux-Mers literally means “between two seas,” referring to the land between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers. It is one of Bordeaux’s most important regions for dry white wine production.
🍷 Personal Pick
A go-to value white that never disappoints. Crisp enough for summer patios, structured enough to enjoy even in winter with seafood dishes, effortless and reliable. — 5 months ago
Tasty enjoyable wine. — 6 years ago
VERY good for the price. Has nice Sauvignon notes with a rose finish. — 6 years ago
The nose is different. Much more woodsy and less fruit than I’d have imagined. The flavour profile was blackberry based and again, some wood. Some eucalyptus and green grass. Also some wet soil and cloves. The tannins weren’t a punch in the face by any means, but also haven’t haven’t completely softened as you might expect in a ten year-old. The palate was uninspiring as there was a watery-ness in the mid palate. I’m not sure whether this is over the hill or just not quite there yet and in a dumb phase? Will wait and see for the final two bottles. Solid, I guess. Not yet amazing. — 7 years ago

Gift from Harpa og Linda. Had with beef barley stew. — 11 years ago
Dark red purple with near opaque black core. Violets and dried blueberries on the inviting nose. Echoed on the medium full palate which adds black chalk and desiccated blackberries surrounded by medium plus acidity and velvety, medium tannins. Fruit blossoms to the fore and the chalk settles into a more flavorful graphite with some air. 2018 was a classic vintage up and down the ranges. The Naujan is an excellent Right Bank wine to pair with all of the classics as well as more contemporary fare. I'm having Wellington. You can have a mushroom cheeseburger. We'll both be happy. Drink now through 2028. — a year ago

Advent night 14. Not as good as the other white Bordeaux but pretty tasty. Not Sauvignon bland but for some reason this app won’t recognize it as Bordeaux. — 7 years ago
This is a 2015, cab franc-dominated, entre-deux-mers Bordeaux. It is surprisingly fruity with blackberries and boysenberry aromas. A hint of rosemary, green bellpepper, and barnyard aromas add to the earthiness. The spice and acidity makes this a perfect wine to go with meat. Luckily, I paired it with a succulent peppercorn-encrusted petite tenderloin filet with portobello mushrooms and broccolini. What a great wine for $15 (coupon brings it to $12)!!! — 8 years ago

このワイン、凄く好きだなぁ。何回飲んでも美味しいし、ステーキとよく合う。 — 10 years ago
Bright red succulent fruit. Cassis, touch of tobacco but very subtle. Outstanding length of acidity, dusty dry tannins. Layers of flavours, with an impressive long aftertaste. 92+ points. — 12 years ago
