gorgeous, simple Beaujolais. Chanudet from chamonard made from a plot co owned with Lapierre bought from Chauvet. — 8 years ago

"Cuvée Corcelette" Morgon Gamay 2011

Hmm that's funny. More Chamonard than Foillard to me for this bottle; a touch more VA and barnyard than the typical Foillard resinous white flower aromatics I've come to love. Great with mustard and panko encrusted pork tenderloin with sautéed apples, but then that's not surprising. Still wields a great dark cherry fruity grip. Lots of crushed dried autumn leaves on the nose and palate. Good, but perhaps a slightly muddled bottle. — 10 years ago

Morgon Gamay 2017

Wilder, juicier, more feral than the 2017 Chamonard Madone Fleurie tried side by side. Less development in the bottle, fresher, cleaner, juicier. Really quite nice, pure tart length. Maybe a 9.3 if this holds up in the fridge. — 3 years ago

Vieilles Vignes Morgon Gamay 2013

This ranks right up there with the best Beaujolais I've had (Foillard 3.14, aged Chamonard in mag, etc). Came out without the barnyard aspect right away and was a sensual pleasure to drink, but with plenty of nuance. From magnum at Untitled — 8 years ago

Chiroubles Gamay 2011

Very mineral and floral up front, seems riper than the Pignan Regnie and Chamonard Morgon, but 2011 seems to supply the requisite backbone and structure, nice balance, medium-long finish, very good! — 3 years ago

@Severn Goodwin, the more I taste the 2011s I bought, I realize how great the vintage truly was in Beaujolais — the 2009s are kinda overripe and “drink up”.

Château Cambon

Beaujolais Gamay 2014

Originally a collaboration between the late great Marcel Lapierre, Jean-Claude Chanudet and Joseph Chamonard, the vines are now managed by Jean-Claude & Genevieve Chanudet, carbonic maceration, wild yeast, grapes aged in 200 year-old foudres, explosion of red & blue fruits, not much tannin or acid, just pure fruit deliciousness. It won't change your life but damn this is brilliant for the price. — 8 years ago

Côte du Py Morgon Gamay 2010

Volatile core and slightly barnyardy not that different from Chamonard in that respect... but so acid spiky and delicious crab apple...screaming for pâté, mustard, roasted earthy root vegetables — 11 years ago
