A toast to the last night in Fiji. A wonderful, richer styled Pinot Gris. A citrus and honeyed nose with a touch of peach leads to a rich palate of baked apple, peach, honey and a touch of oak balanced by bright acidity, wet stone and possibly a touch of RS. The finish is long a clean. A wonderful sipper. — 8 years ago
Fruity and full flavoured. — 9 years ago
This was one hell of a blind tasting. On blind luck I think, (no pun intended) I got the year and major region (NZ). The varietal had me beat as, for me, the intensity wasn't there, on the palate (like on a Rhone Valley Syrah). Fun one for sure and a favorite of mine from Syrah. — 10 years ago
2014 Vintage.Nose: Flint, struck match, gunsmoke and lime complimented by a complex leesy finish. Palette: Rich, full and weighty but still maintains structure and acidity, citrus, grapefruit, balanced finesse in terms of oak, subtle leesy lingering finish. Complex, divine and super moorish. — 11 years ago
Vintage unknown. No gasoline nose, bit neutral, hints of citrus. Sour yet no razor feeling, long finish. Way better than those from Clare valley I tried. Buy. — 12 years ago
Easy to drink. Quite fruity. No bad aftertaste. Nice smell. — 5 years ago
Fantastic, full bodied wine (and excellent with a bit of dark chocolate, which really brings out the plum). — 8 years ago
Heavy but creamy batter taste. — 8 years ago

Elegant new world Chardonnay made in one of the best NZ wine region of Hawkes bay. Slightly oaked that brings the vanilla out along with a butter popcorn balanced with citrusy grapefruit notes. One interesting note: hints of daiginjo sake on the nose; perhaps it’s the white flower or lychees aromas. Nice new world white. — 6 years ago
One of my favourite wines! It's been doing reall well for it's age and could even go a year or two more. Amazingly intense botes of stonefruit with manuka honey! I'm really proud of these grapes! — 8 years ago
Nose of peppercorns savoury spices and minerals Medium weight with plummy minerality coming through on the palate. Hawkes Bay NZ Syrah has always been a favourite of mine starting with Te Mata's Bull Nose Syrah 10 years ago. This Salo is made by leading Aussie winemaker Steve Flamsteed of Giant Steps in the Yarra Valley Tasted again 36 weeks later. Lacked a little mid palate fruit when compared to the Mt Langhi Cliff Edge which was a similar cool climate peppery Shiraz. I preferred the Langhi. — 9 years ago
