Light ruby color, beautiful shine. Nose: bright red fruits (strawberry, cherry), peppery, and mineral. Lively mouth with a slamming acidity, constituting the red thread of this tasting, balanced by gourmet notes of juicy fruit, and a beautiful chew in the mouth, with very fine tannins, as expected. Served at 12/13 degrees in summer, it is a perfect treat. 2018 is beginning to reveal welcome evolution notes, supporting a discreet oak aging. To be tasted absolutely within 1/2 years.
A regoûter absolument d’ici 1/2 ans. — 4 years ago
Shared by FIL. Stored in a passive cellar upon release, $18. Double decant. Red fruits on nose faded fast. Nose & palate all leather & plum. Smooth, medium bodied with medium plus acidity. Very good. 12.5% ABV. — 5 years ago
love love love
so rare that I find a dry riesling that I don't like
nose: peach and lemon, funky overripe stone fruit. just the smell brought a smile to my face, smells friendly and familiar and funky in a sexy way
tart!!!! Chick-fil-A lemonade, slightly fizzy, so sexy and dry. tastes reminiscent of nectar, like a honeysuckle. the fruitiness makes it seem sweet though it's not actually sweet, pretty dry and wonderful — 6 years ago
funky fre$h, sweet peachy honeysuckle nose, tastes slightly off-dry, some funk and a little zing, acidic and fun like a summertime lemonade but not crazy acidic like Chick-fil-A lemonade. tastes different than other rieslings I've had but in a good way, this might be the first natty riesling I've had? 94-95
Nice intense nose, lots of fruit, nice acidity and freshness, power and finesse at the same time, nice balance, nice length, Grand Cru feel for sure, gorgeous. — 3 years ago
Was actually Pilade. Stellar.

— 6 years ago
French and wonderful. Bold and tannic. This has years of life left in it. What an unusual blend for the states. Old vine granache and old vine carignan. Would love to try this in another ten years. Great with a Chick-fil-A filet number one — 6 years ago
Interesting without being funky but has the French character. Butter and lime. Paired with potato chips, shortbread cookies and Chick-fil-A nuggets — 6 years ago

The 2019 Mâcon-Verzé Les Chênes was ordered from the list at Au Fil du Zinc in Chablis, principally because it is not shown whenever I visit Leflaive in Puligny. It acquits itself well. It's fresh on the nose with orchard fruit and white tea, though I would not describe it as complex. However, it exudes presence and concentration. The palate has commendable weight and is well-balanced. The acidity neatly counterbalances the concentrated fruit, dovetailing into a brioche-tinged finish with sufficient salinity to beg another sip. Polished off over dinner, it cost 60 Euros on the list. Money well spent. (Neal Martin, Vinous, August 2023)

nose: ripe bananas and honey. smells like a sauternes! sexy
so bubbly! I didn't expect that. this is a real zinger, explosion of tarness and acidity. reminds me of a Chick-fil-A lemonade, where it slaps you with that lemony goodness and makes your mouth water. finishes with a cool smooth apple blast
was not good even a day later, drink on the first day

nose: apple juice and pear and light happy flowers like lilies. i smiled when I smelled this, it's like when you hug someone and they have a nice fruity flowery shampoo that isn't too cloying and makes you want to just sniff their hair.
crisp refreshing, goes down like Chick-fil-A lemonade but less biting. leaves the front of your palate watering on the finish and makes you want to chug it straight from the bottle (a Ross test, if you will)

Tasting lunch at Au Fil de Zinc in Chablis. First experience with Maconnais. Good Chardonnay, with floral notes. — 10 months ago
