The 2019 Grand Vin is a Malbec with 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot from Vistalba and Las Compuertas and was barrel-aged for 16 months in 50% new oak. A vivid purple in the glass. The complex nose delivers dark fruit, plum, redcurrant, oak and stock hints. Creamy and broad with a fairly smooth texture and grippy, finely-grained tannins. The voluminous body is almost velvety in feel. An excellent balance has been achieved between the volume, acidity and alcohol. (Joaquín Hidalgo, Vinous, January 2023)

We elected to open up one of our purchases from Mendoza. This wine is from Lujan de Cuyo and comprised of 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 70% Malbec. It also has a high alcohol content of 15.1%. It took just over 2 hours to fully open up, and the flavours continued to express themselves as the evening progressed. In regards to taste, it’s a big bold dark fruit ensemble, comprising of dark succulent cherries, blackberries, cassis, and plums. It’s not jammy or syrup like. It’s velvety against the tongue and elegantly balanced. The fruit flavours are followed by vanilla, subtle herbaceous notes and fine dark chocolate. The flavours amalgamate providing a layered and royal finish. Exquisite. Served with lamb shank and orzo pasta. — 8 years ago

This isn't a Malbec, this is the cabaret franc. It's delicious! Spicy, a little tangy. Hints of strawberries and blueberries. Medium tannins. — a year ago

Like a very dry Riesling. But, has a very unique aroma and taste. Would be very good with spicy Asian food. Definitely would buy again. — 8 years ago
Waitrose. Excellent Malbec. Had with a steak and then on its own. Juicy dark fruits, so drinkable. Superb. — 3 years ago
Luscious red and black fruit complimented by leather and tobacco. An unrestrained beast, super intense, I think this may be better in another decade or more. — 4 years ago
