A good Chianti for cold weather. Drank this one outside in November and it’s full body kept us warm. Subtle iron notes to start with a smooth finish. — 5 years ago
2021 - on 3/21/25 at Il Molino with Cacio Pepe ravioli - very good chard — 10 months ago
One of 2019’s favorite new acquaintances Tenuta di Carleone Il Guercia. Equally impressive today as its displaying a wonderful combination of playfulness, transparancy, gracefulness and intensity. Opening with a vibrant and nuanced red fruit profile followed by a perfumed and herb infused floral note with a salty and gravelly minerality in the back end. It’s developing in layers with the time in the glass reaching unexplored territories in each sniff.
The palate is an act of grace, a wonderful flow and an enticing texture
with very fine yet present tannins that is balancing the fresh acidity as they together carries the complex fruit profile throughout the gravelly encore.
An impressive act worthy standing ovations — 6 years ago
Very similar to the last bottle...
Lots of ripe cherry, with tobacco, cedar and a touch of black pepper. Tannins are balanced yet still with a slight tightness on the finish. Will drink well for another 3-5 years. Good value at $24.

Seems like a great classic representation of a Chianti. Cherry, Dusty, various baking spices. Interesting enough when it first opened there is definitely a caramel or a burnt sugar going on there, but it faded within the first 5 to 10 minutes. After that it settled down to Fruit forward without any bad tannins or anything else, but still not flabby. Delicious and went very well with our pasta. — 6 months ago
Excellent Super Tuscan bought at the winery in Italy. — 5 years ago
2015 Il Carnasciale is embracing the warm vintage with grace; Showing off with a deep but vibrant fruit that is eating up the expensive cooperage over its telltale gravelly minerality. An impeccable palate, sublime yet intense, powdery tannins and a pulsing fatigue with a nervy edge throughout a long and developing finish. Classy!

Vivid clear, color and tight, concentrated fruit. Cherries and plums and juiciness. Very delicious, but also seem to fade very quickly and it’s flavor. Corked it for a day and a half and came back to something that was quite quickly on its way out and had become round and just grape juicy. Maybe that’s on me for leaving it. — 6 days ago
