Took a bottle to a mini family reunion . . . disappeared in no time. Dark fruit, warm spice, smooth tannins. Would definitely buy again. — 6 months ago
Needed a steak tonight and found this place that has two of my favorites…Beef Wellington and ribeye cap. I went with the ribeye tonight. $80 pesos per ounce. Delicious. Should have upgraded the wine for this experience. — 2 years ago

Great wine. Tried as a sample at H‑E‑B and loved it. Not too sweet. Has a Smokey semisweet flavor. Also reasonable price - around $12.00 — 8 months ago
Nice Spanish Monastrell, bold fresh wine we had with a Michigan Upper Peninsula beef and rutabaga pasty. — 3 months ago

Staff selection Surdyks (Roger Clark): “Grown in southern Spain’s Jumilla region, Muscatel produces wonderful dry wines. Shows typical fruit and floral aromas. Fruit is certainly at the forefront of the flavors, but the lightly spicy notes accent the fresh, dry finish. This would be excellent with savory chicken or pork dishes.” — 3 years ago

A dark and dense deep burgundy in the glass with tiny purple accents and no signs of bricking. The nose is rather delightful but you have to give it time. Primarily oak and tobacco notes for the first few hours but the fruit begins to express itself more and more as time goes by. Blue and blackberries with a touch of rhubarb and plums. There’s an earthy element that begins to shine on day two.
There are good values in wine and then there’s this. At fourteen years this is still fresh as a daisy and oh so vibrant. Old school and just so correct. A nice level of complexity and full of personality and charm for days. Full bodied, dry, and savory. The oak never threatens to overwhelm in the mouth, instead you get leather and smoke with enough black fruit. A medium long finish keeps you coming back. An easy favorite. — 2 months ago
