Charalambos Lelektsoglou Blanc de Blancs Champagne Chardonnay

Bottle 300 of 300, and the last bottle really was the best. Beautifully aromatic and finessed, with pointed acidity, wonderful texture and sapidity. So precise, elegant and alive. A terrific Champagne with real persistence and class. — 11 days ago

Millésime Brut Sparkling Blend 2004

On the downside while still maintaining great effervescence. Honeyed citrus, pollen, and hazelnuts. Takes on more oxidative Sherry notes as it sits in the glass. Delicate. — 4 years ago

Chardonnay/Pinot Noir/Pinot Meunier. Nice nose, mineral, expressive, airy, salty and elegant. Concentrated, sappy and dense, yet airy, light and delicate. Good persistence and very clean. — 11 days ago

Brut Blanc de Blancs de Chouilly Chardonnay

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. No formal notes. This is my first experience with the Champagnes of Legras & Haas and I found this quite easy to enjoy. In this instance, it played the role of aperitif and it did very well. It was light on its toes and shoes nice balance of fruit, acid and minerals. Base vintage is 2017…which might have something to do with it coming across a touch lean? Looking forward to trying again. Drink now. Disgorged April of 2022. — a year ago

Cuvée St. Vincent Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne 1996

This is a special champagne. Aged so gracefully. In a 2nd maturation phase that is getting the caramel flavors out. I should have bought a lot more. This is worth every penny if you can find it. — 4 years ago

Chouilly Brut Rosé Champagne

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The NV Brut Rosé pours an attractive, pale pink with persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of strawberry, raspberry, apple, lemon, lightly toasted brioche and minerals. On the palate the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose, the finish is medium+; round and balanced. I could easily drink the shit out of this. Drink now. Base harvest is 2020. Disgorged January 2023. — 2 months ago

Champagne Diot-Legras

Brut Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes Champagne Chardonnay 2008

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several hours. The 2008 Grand Cru VV pours a straw color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing, almost youthful and initially, extremely bright and vibrant; like a laser beam of acid and marzipan. After a couple of hours of air, this really became exceptional with tropical fruit, lemon, curd, brioche, and an enormous amount of minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry and acid is high as one would expect. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. A serious wine that needs time and, probably one of those champagnes that could use a decant. Better after 2028 and through 2043. Disgorged 2023. Thanks for the assist @Lyle Fass — a year ago

@Lyle Fass talk to me. I have one bottle of the 2010 in my cellar and that’s a vintage that rarely, if ever, gets any love

@Jay Kline I offered a few times and will offer a few again. It’s more advanced than the 08 by a hair and maybe a bit lusher but insane fruit and depth.
