Had this wine while working in Malta with Michael Vasia Manolis & Carmen — 11 years ago
Very easy drinking. Perfect for a hot, sunny day at the beach or near any body of water. Taste reminds me of a reality never known. The faint grasping at a distant memory. So deliciously fragrant on the nose. The palate opens up quickly to the greeting of smooth velvety red fruits, soon followed by a lemony zestful bitterness. The slightly tannic bitterness slumbers on the palate much longer than the silky suede seduction of cherry and Granny Smith. It dares you to take another sip, to revisit the memory before the bitterness set in. This push and pull makes for a delicious bottle that goes down quicker than you’d like. Soon the bottle is empty and you’re left with only the memory. Like a long day at the beach, you want to live in that moment forever, because you know that at the end of it, you’re left sandy, salt licked, and sun scorched. The greed of the moment is rarely a fair opponent.
