Almost pitch black in colour - very dense. Barb said Liquorice and Dark Chocolate - also lashings of blackberry. Extremely rich, concentrated fruit. Possibly the richest most full bodied French dry red I’ve ever had. Interesting to compare with the Catena Zapata Malbec a week ago. The Argentinian Malbec coming from high country was more elegant. I must try more Malbec from Cahors. Made for a BBQ Steak. A silky palate finishing with very dry tannins. Bought at Hedonism in Mayfair London several years ago. I have never seen this producer available in Australia. — 4 years ago

Colour: quite opaque, but not completely; dark red-violet
Nose: very concentrated flavours; on the fruit side, ripe black fruit (ripe plums, black berries), then black olives, grass, black pepper; very concentrated, rich, bold but still very elegant and classy. Quite
spicy: salty, black olives, pepper, tobacco. Quite evident note of violet.
Palate: Medium to full in body, fine tannins – good structure overall, and nice acidity to balance all flavours. Warm and spicy, red and black fruit, plums, figs, violet. Good astringency. Elegant but not too bold.

It’s 10 years since Serge. Hochar’s death whilst swimming in Acapulco on NYE 2014 and I think it’s appropriate to celebrate his legacy that is the modern Chateau Musar.
I first tasted Lebanese wines in London circa 1986 when I used to go to a couple of Lebanese restaurants in Shepherds Market near Mayfair in London
Al Hamra is still in business
I’ve been to Beirut several times and always stock up at the airport duty free
So a toast to a departed icon of the wine world
Since my last 2011 4.5 years ago (see note) this has aged wonderfully and I’ve up my rating several points
Another few years and it will be further improved
Optimal decant time was around 3.5 to 4 hours

This PN was a lovely warm up to the crazy 🇦🇺 filet steak @ Cut 45 Park Lane, Mayfair
Didn’t take notes as Mrs Es birthday but it was very aromatic, full of balanced fruits with a lovely smooth long finish 👍
Just love their labels 👏
Bit overpriced @ £150 in restaurant but worth it 😁 I’ll try & hunt now to review properly 😎

Colour: Quite transparent; brick, very light
Nose: very subtle and delicate, gooseberry, touch of wood (not too much), liquor-like cherry flavour, tiny hint of pine and provence spices.
Palate: very fine, subtle and elegant tannins; good acidity and astringency – wood spices but not too evident and straightforward; supple and refined wine overall. NOTE: tasted after a very strong malbec blend, so tasted a bit watery in comparison to me.

2002 vintage. At 34 in Mayfair. Medium lemon gold hue. On the nose, medium concentration of ripe lemon, exotic fruits (roasted pineapple) and crushed stone minerality. Honeyed. On the palate, medium acidity, smooth and textured, medium alcohol, medium plus concentration and medium finish. Some oxidation and nutty honeyed notes on the mid palate. Mature but decent. Drink now. Unlikely to improve with further ageing. 90 points. — 10 years ago
At The [Running] Footman in Mayfair with Sly and Eugene. This was a great Pomerol. Lush but balanced; a ripe style with earthy notes. Good with our Scottish roast beef ... — 4 years ago

Colour: quite transparent; light red with a tone of brick
Nose:voluptuous and sensual, very complex bouquet of red fruit (strawberry, bramble, raspberries, red cherries), wet wood leaves,
undergrowth, red spices and red roses. Very intriguing, warm and flirting.
Palate: light in body, young tannins, slightly lively and pungent, but still soft overall. Red fruit (raspberries, red cherries, bramble), nice
warmth although not too much. A bit watery, tannins still young to express whole potential; a bit of grass and stem flavour. Probably needs some age.
