Miguel Calatayud

Bodegas San Alejandro

Las Rocas Calatayud Garnacha 2017

This is a great wine. It opens with strong berry character and some oak/vanilla. As it opens the jammy character shines through and you get a strong berry sweetness in flavor and aroma that drinks really easy for 14.5%. Stands up to the bit of age I put on it. Will drink again! — 4 months ago

Bodegas Breca

Garnacha de Fuego

Great value, a $15 bottle of wine that was on sale for $9. Full bodied, bright berries, somewhat buttery but was robust enough to not be offputting. Had with Moroccan chicken but would also be good on its own. — 7 months ago

Bodegas Ateca

Atteca Calatayud Old Vines Garnacha 2021

Medium plus ruby in color; black cherries, raspberries, and tabacco on the nose; high acidity, high tannins; tastes like candied cherries, hibiscus, and crushed gravel with a long finish. Nellie likes it, and so do I. — 4 months ago

Marimar Estate (Marimar Torres)

Ruby coloration. Translucent. In the nose, cherry, cherry cola, red berry, on the palate, a close mirror to the nose. Medium-Long finish. — 4 months ago

Miguel Merino

Reserva Rioja Tempranillo 2017

Not as flashy/rich as the 2015. More elegant. Old school. Restraint. Balance. Dark fruit. Oak is definitely there, but it’s in the background already showing good integration.Closeout for $22 at K$L right now. Back up the truck. — 5 months ago

Marimar Estate (Marimar Torres)

Don Miguel Vineyard La Masia Chardonnay 2018

La masía translates as "the farmhouse," which Marimar Estate was designed to resemble. Medium Ruby with aromas of red fruits, dried herbs and earthy spice. On the palate flavors of cherry and raspberry with toasty notes and herb cinnamon spice. Full-bodied, fine soft textured tannins, long finish ending with juicy fruit and spicy herb character. Nice! — 7 months ago
