Rustic, old world red. The nose shows leather, crushed cranberry, eucalyptus, cigar box, and menthol. The palate is dry with tobacco, leather, dried cranberry, cherry reduction, new oak, sage, and plum. Medium tannins, medium minus alcohol, and medium plus acid. Despite its age, it needs decanting or at least sitting in the glass for a while. Tart, dry, and well balanced. This is a fantastic value wine. — 5 years ago

And earthy almost unbaked biscuits smell comes off of this wine. Very cool and smooth with muted tannins and flavors. Easy on the front of the tongue but with well structured fruit on the back. Not jammy, not overly ripe, earthy and smoky notes to it. Really fantastic wine for the price! — 8 years ago

A very fun wine! Step out of the box and do not think anything like "a California Cab".
This single vineyard Cabernet from Spain is smooth, presents a long finish, showcasing herbs and acidity more than fruit. James Suckling rated this at 91. Grapes from 40-60
Year old Vines, dark fruits on fore palate, medicinal, mushrooms, potpourri, herbs on midpalate following through the finish. I pick up a lot of milk chocolate on the nose but does not transcend to palate. — 3 years ago

Incredibly hard to stop drinking. The lychee and mango nose is fantastic, but it's really the crunchy and tropical flavors on the finish that demand the next sip. BBQ's and pool parties could all use this juice. Soft and easy yet still mouthwatering, this is hedonism at its finest - Which is basically why we're all here, right
Located in the relatively warmer Basto sub-zone of the Vinho Verde, Quinta da Raza is making some delicious, original examples of Vinho Verde, exploring grape varieties beyond the usual array of grapes in the region. In this case, Azal is the second most widely planted varietal in Minho (Vinho Verde) region. It is unusual to see varietal bottling. This is a lip smacking wine, you can see that this varietal brings the zip to Vinho Verde blends. It is not all bracing with acidity; there are some expressive citrus and chilled tropical tones, minerality, and a faint fizz that the wines are famous for.
