Have had the7 year old, the 12 year old, the 18 year but the first time for this 25 year old rum from Nicaragua. Quite dark in colour - probably showing the extra age in oak casks. Sooty caramel aromas that translate to the palate. Resinous and oh so smooth. The palate is so rich the alcohol heat is not apparent with a small block of ice. Love these Flor de Cana Rums - have an 18 year left in the cellar for the upcoming winter. — 5 years ago
This was at my uncle's house in Nicaragua. I never knew South America had Syrah. 2120 cases made. 2011. The cork was so tight I almost injured myself. What a delight and escape from the widespread deployment of malbec.
The nose on this shocked me dark cherries with licorice. This follows in the mouth. Nice roundness with a slight acidic finish (note that I didn't decant). Excellent.

IF, hypothetically speaking, you had a shitty busted up sailboat, you could drink a dozen of these on it every day and not have a care in the world. Doesn't give ya the shits either. — 5 years ago
Mmm this is why I like Petite Sirah! Lots of dark fruit with a smooth finish. Great story on the bottle about how a Count from Europe immigrated to America. He became the first Sheriff of San Diego County then moved to Northern California to pursue grape growing. As legend has it, he was eaten by a crocodile while in Nicaragua. This wine honors his spirit as an entrepreneur, an explorer, a true daredevil at heart. — 5 years ago

Bought a 3 pack in Managua Nicaragua. Deep ruby red in color. Cherry cola up front. Dry and low acidity. Medium Alc. While it is a Crianza, it comes across as a Reserva with some prune and dates on the palate. Tannins are smooth. Finish is long and sherry-like.
Happy New Year everyone!
