Light ruby with a narrower brighter rim , just hinting at garnet . More floral and lighter red fruit , with strawberry , raspberry and light red cherry , hints of red rose and cedar , slightly stony edge also, will need time to open up . On the palate this has quite a lot more acidity and gritty tannins, red cherry , raspberry , orange rind and a real freshness and elegance . Balanced alcohol and good cherry tinged length . Very balanced and elegant , also pretty young , needs a few more years to open . Probably better in a 5 years or so and will last well a further 5-10 . The most ethereal and poised of the Brunellis in this tasting . — a year ago

Seven years after the vintage, this one shows no signs of slowing down. On the nose, green grass, tomato plant, papaya... On the palate, papaya again... Big mineral... Good acidity. Medium finish. Crisp, bright, and alive. Very enjoyable. — 4 years ago

It is a medium dark wine with a savory nose, showing violets, licorice, forest floor and a touch of cardamom. The palate is spicy, with black pepper and herbs joining the black berry profile. The tannins are quite firm and the acidity is fresh. It is a youthful wine which will pair nicely with a pork roast. — 5 years ago
From the east hill, pignolo, 2008. A rare grape a lovely deep coloured, aromatic wine with abit of raisin sweet, a bit of souple leather and a slight alcoholic kick that resembles grappa. — 6 years ago

This is moving fast towards the top of my list of favorite wines. Absolutely fantastic, I looooooooove this! — 4 years ago
A stately, well-structured red from Friuli. This one had the maturity and mellow character of a wine almost a decade old. The tannins, though no doubt softened over the years, provided enough structure to allow this schioppettino to continue ageing, even if only for a couple more years. Blueberries and vanilla were present on the nose, whereas the palate presented flavors of prunes, raisins, plums, and a hint of tobacco. Very happy to have procured this bottle; it was a great pairing for our Easter leg of lamb! 100% Schioppettino. 4/17/22. — 5 years ago
