Entity Barossa Valley Shiraz 2017

A perfect balance between oak and fruit (blackberry) from this Barossa Shiraz. Great winemaking from John Duval who has quite the CV. John was Chief Winemaker at Penfolds from 1986 until 2002 being only the 3rd custodian of Penfolds Grange after Max Schubert (creator of Grange) and Don Ditter. In 2020 this wine received Shiraz of the Year and 99 points from the James Halliday Wine Companion. The product of old vines in the Barossa. Luscious but in balance and overall - delicious. — 2 months ago

John is a very nice guy and an excellent Winemaker. Tasted with him at Taste of Barossa in 2018.

Femme de Champagne Brut Champagne Blend 1996

Drinking well. Slightly sherry / honey but less than you’d expect for the age. Solid bubble but lacks the complexity of its pairing — 3 years ago

Brut Rosé Champagne Blend

A perfect and very special Thanksgiving dinner accompaniment. Crisp, strawberry notes, nice and dry. Delicious! — 5 years ago

Plexus Shiraz Blend 2021

This Aussie GSM was much richer than most Rhône wines that I’ve enjoyed - more red fruit and compote. Enjoyable albeit not overly complex. — 2 months ago

Premier Cru Brut Champagne Blend 1555

NV | midweight champagne from Chardonnay from Côte de Blancs and Pinot Noir from Montagne de Reims and Vallee de la Marne. Vibrant taste with apples and frivolous in smell, champagne came better out after pairing with oysters — 5 years ago

Lovely southern Rhône white blend from the Barossa at Heckfield Place, The Sun House restaurant - partnered both fish and meat dishes well. — 6 years ago

Good, but not my favorite. Very different from the Ruinart we had before. Much darker in color and significantly more tannins. — 5 months ago

Concilio Barossa Valley Grenache Shiraz 2021

All Grenache (no Shiraz). And delicious. Really finds the sweet spot between ponderous, massive global-warming CDP and those people trying to do light picnic Grenache that should be chilled like fruit punch. Nose has kirsch and raspberry ooze, along with dank minerality. Nice flavor intensity in the mouth, but with little flab. Rich fruit quickly turns savory. Nice length and the balance between acids and tannins is well-struck. Should have gotten more. — 2 years ago

I have been very impressed with how Barossa is embracing Grenache and creating some amazingly flavorful fresh, medium bodied wines.
