Artemis Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Paul J
9.3

1hr decant but probably could have PnP’d. Nice dark red color. Some cedar and dark cherries on the nose. Easy to drink. Nothing remarkable or off putting, just a solid wine. Fades pretty quick with medium depth and finish. — a year ago

Hatschbourg Alsace Grand Cru Gewürztraminer

Do you know I keep trying it and I’m just not a fan of Gewurztraminer. There’s too much of a perfume flavor to it but it’s sort of reminds me of like chewing those fake fruit gummy‘s. This is delicious, it just sort of gets overwhelming after a while. — 3 years ago

Previously had the 2015. This was slightly more off-dry than dry but still excellent. — 4 years ago

Rich black fruit, menthol and leather. Wisp of smoke, fresh mouthfeel, slightly oily. Finished somewhat quick, but a fun wine. — 2 years ago

Mild mild aroma of citrus and green apples. Green apple citrus tartness in the middle then a quick finish. — 2 years ago

Barsotti Vineyard Gamay Noir 2020

a dose of mineral, almost konbu-like wash, sea breeze, ash, pith, and beach plum. 48-hrs open. great clarity and snappiness, if a trifle quick on the back end, it’s made up for in prettiness. — 3 years ago

Still kicking! Lively acid and tannin that mellows quick. Gets ashy and smooth. Not for amateurs. — 4 years ago

Tenuta delle Terre Nere

Etna Rosso Nerello Mascalese Blend 2020

Lovely light red fruits and good acid, but ultimately not that interesting or complex. Maybe would have been better with some air time as this was a quick pop and pour — 2 years ago

Mercury Head Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

The Big Boy!!!! 15.7% abv. 2016 Mercury Head Cabernet Sauvignon stored for 6 years at 50 degrees in my wine cellar. Decanted for 45 minutes.:
The color is dark but not opaque. Legs are very slow and thick. The bouquet on this is fantastic! I smell Blackberry rhubarb pie fresh out of the oven. As my nose starts to tingle as my taste kicks in before even putting it to my lips. With the first sip, my palate is suddenly bombarded with fresh black berries and dark currant! There is a hint of black licorice. On the second sip, I can start to taste hints of black cherry and black pepper. Then there is a sudden development of white oak and graphite. After another sip and letting it settle with more aeration on my tongue, a quick swallow, and SHAZAM! A Velvety smooth, buttery delicious moderately dry beautiful cabernet Finish. My senses are aching for more!!!!!

Monts Damnés Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2016

Gorgeous expression of SB, classic site expression with its vibrant array of ripe citrus fruits and densely packed mineral backbone. Just beautiful. Key lime, grapefruit, a slight tropical edge, lemon curd, crushed chalk, aloe, sweet herbs. Went way to quick need to track down another bottle! — 4 years ago
