Rocca San Giovanni

Rocca di Montegrossi

San Marcellino Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Sangiovese 2017

Medium ruby , medium ruby garnet rim . Quite aromatic , cedar, red cherry , cut herbs , and a slight meaty , soy , balsamic touch . On the palate quite lean red fruits and some dark cherry , blackberry , cedar , liquorice with a herbal tinge . Gritty tannin , quite high acidity . Slightly short and lean on the finish . This is drinking at peak now , doesn’t have the structure or density to last so would recommend to drink over the next 3-5 years . — a month ago

Nice Barolo, not a bad value for the price. Needs more time and air. But still quite typical on the nose and enjoyable overall. — 4 years ago

A hit of new oak on pop and pour, developed well in the glass over the course of a few hours. Beautiful wine.

San Giovanni Barolo Nebbiolo 2019

Ruby with a bouquet of dark fruit, spices, leather and licorice. On the palate flavors of cherry and strawberry with notes of pepper, smoky tobacco, herbs and cacao. Long finish, nice balance with fine soft tannins ending with smoky notes, cacao and earthy sweet notes. Just starting to drink now, but a few more years will benefit. — 8 months ago

Wonderful Barbera. Dried rose petals, dark cherries, blueberry and bakers chocolate on the nose. Plum and chocolate flavors as well with hints of minerals and toasted spices. Dusty tannins. Beautiful red/light purple color. Excellent value! — 4 years ago
