Schrader Cellars

Boars' View The Coast Pinot Noir 2015

Pop and pour. A gorgeous dark ruby red color. On the nose: jumping from the glass are ripe cherries, clove, earth, smokey oak, herbs, bacon fat. Taste: smooth, creamy, expressive mouthcoating wine with black raspberry, ripe strawberry, cedar, tobacco, black tea, little pepper, and a minerally nutmeg medium plus finish. YUM! — 2 months ago

Château de Beaucastel

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 2018

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. No formal notes due to the setting. The 2018 is a fairly classic expression of Beaucastel with a mixed bramble fruit set, underbrush, herbs and spices in lovely balance. Good structure. While still on the youthful side, the 2018 is already showing well and was an awesome accompaniment with a wagyu burger. Drink now through 2038. — a month ago

Domaine Jamet

Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2012

Classic Jamet showing a concentrated, complex nose of red & black cherry, berry fruit, smoked meat, black olive, pepper, savory spice, mineral, menthol & violets. This is still on the youthful side that should keep developing for many more years. — 18 days ago

Château Léoville-Las Cases

Grand Vin de Leoville du Marquis de las Cases Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 1990

Medium ruby , terracotta /garnet rim. Quite round and ripe , red plum , cigar and ripe blackberry, touch of soy . Touch of cocoa , blackberry and ripe dark cherry , black tea . Quite sweet , rich on the palate, generous for Las Cases , slightly dried fruit , fig and red plum . Pretty decent length , balanced but quite discreet acidity , rounded tannins . This is at peak now and I don’t see much up side from here , so best to drink over the next 5 years or so, though it did hold up in the glass quite well . Atypical for Las Cases with its ripe fruit, quite low acidity , sweet tannin: also this only has 42% Cabernet Sauvignon. Overall probably the least successful of the wines in this tasting , but the level overall was very high. — 2 months ago
