Caymus Vineyards

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

From a 1 liter bottle. Which frankly was marketing and sales genius by the Wanner’s.

Fruity. Sweet. Lots of oak. A bit better with some bottle age. Let this breathe for quite a bit.

Annual birthday WWC hosting. As normal, 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds, 1 dessert, all presented blind.

Fun to open birth year wines around your birthday, especially when you can do a Bordeaux and Napa side by side. While not a great vintage, this held up well after a few hours and presented as expected. Clean and zero Brett. Great color! Deep ruby with hardly any bricking. Leather, cassis, vanilla pipe tobacco on the nose. Sporting a good bit of dusty red and black fruits (mostly tart raspberries and blackberries), there was a little savory truffle note mixed with an herbal and mocha finish. Still quite grippy. Pretty.

Château Lafite Rothschild

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2004

+1 hour decant(some fine/chunky sediment). A splendid crimson red color. On the nose: wonderful bouquet with plum, stewed meat, cassis, sweet tobacco, funky earth, leather. Taste: silky, finessed, balanced wine with red berries/plum, coffee grounds, cedar, tobacco, and a nice peppery pencil lead long finish. YUM! Pure class in a glass. — a month ago

This rose is amazing! Tastes like summer in a glass. Strawberries and apricots. Just lovely. Interesting as I haven’t had many German roses. So good!! — 3 months ago

Bin No 1 Great Western Shiraz 2019

Meaty, charcuterie notes together with black and blue fruits. The palate is rich and savoury - full bodied on the earthy spectrum with ripe plum. Bests are an under the radar Gem in the Grampians. It should be a regular purchase particularly at the price. An average price of around $30. — 5 months ago

Gorgeous nose of mid season cherries, spice, delicate wood, slate, and even saltiness. Palate is super deep and has some citrus notes, dense cherry fruit, layered and fresh, From Falkenberg, Grosser Hergott and Grafenberg. Terrific freshness and purity. Love the wood spice on the nose mixed with xmas spice and citrus. Salty finish and awesome ripe tannins. Big Pinot that has great aging potential. Such an awesome wine. — 4 months ago
