Lovely nose, fresh strawberries, honey and stone fruit. A nice crisp finish. A favorite of mine. — 4 years ago

Ruination Double IPA

Surprisingly, I kinda liked this despite my aversion to overly-hopped beers. The nose is a straight up hop-bomb - floral, citrusy, piney. The palate's also full-on, with heaps of hoppy bitterness, but balanced by malty sweetness and tropical fruit notes (passionfruit and mango for me). Finishes crisp and earthy. Not bad, but not my kind of beer (not an IPA fan basically). — 5 years ago

Shake Ridge Ranch Amador County Barbera

Made only a couple times (so far), the Shake Ridge Barbera (‘21) from Bedrock is a really fun wine. It’s loaded with berries, plum and underbrushy flavors and finishes with a zing that make it a red-sauce’s dream date. Let’s hope future vintages allow for more of these. — 8 months ago

Citrine California Chardonnay

Nice nice. Peach yogurt, lemon, wet stone, some nuttiness and Parmesan? Some mild grassiness? Long finish. Crisp. — 4 years ago

Desire Lines Wine Co.

Shake Ridge Ranch Syrah 2017

It’s pretty easy to over-do Syrah in this location. Desire Lines does a phenomenal job of keeping dessert-like pleasure and seriousness of terroir in check. Lifted and fruited like a modern northern Rhône or Cru beaujolais with a little less seriousness to boot but also this is young and booming. Held straight for 5 days. Get the feeling that this will resolve very slowly over time to show more what earthy and cool characteristics it has in its hand. This wine feels extremely stable and a kaleidoscope of possibilities lay herein. — 5 years ago
