We opened this 21018 on November 18,2023 because I wanted one more glass to wrap up the night after a wonderful dinner of osso bucco, Milanese risotto and barbaresco. Thought my husband might pass this one as it is higher alcohol than he likes but wow we were both pleasantly surprised. First sip gives me anise, some chocolate and herbs like Rosemary. It’s beautiful already and we just opened this puppy!!! — a year ago
Pretty intense and concentrated for a Rosso Piceno, which tend to be on the thinner side because of the high proportion of Sangiovese (which is not in its best element in Marche). Nose is medium intensity, with lots of smoky crushed stone, savory dark berry skin fruit. Athletic-feeling in the mouth, with good extract and flavor intensity, some rustic Montepulciano tannins in the finish. Good acids. I feel like this will soften and get a bit more friendly over the next few years, which is unusual for a Piceno. — a year ago
Baked fruit on the nose with a slight tartness: apple, pear cobbler. Meyer lemon. Candied lemon. Orange rind. Stone fruit, too. Slightly nutty in the palate and a nice delivery of mineral - bitter finish. Moderate+ acid, moderate alcohol. Fresh, young, and easy drinking. — 7 years ago
