Tikveš

Barovo Vineyards Dry Red Blend 2017

65% Kratošija / 35% Vranec.

Im not too familiar with these varietals but this drinks like a hearty california syrah. Clear deep ruby color, with a masculine nose featuring cut wood, nuts, plums and cherries. There’s a bit of heat from high alcohol and strong acidity levels, medium tannic structure, but a good feel. Lots of ripened fruit, chocolate, and spice. Long warm finish.

Tikveš Zilavka 2018

Notes of apples, lemon hard candies, lemongrass on the nose. Lemon rind, minerally steel, white peach, hints of zesty ginger on the finish. Nicely balanced, good value, great for food. Went surprisingly well with veggie pizza. — 4 years ago

Vranac

Cool label. Dark color. Deep purple. Smells nice. Sauna wood, cherry and berry, and light roast coffee. Flavors are excellent. Fresh and tangy with some flinty, rocky stuff. Complex finish. Hint of resin. This is great. Would love to have more wine from Macedonia. — 9 months ago

Somewhat bitter on the first day, but the bitterness was completely gone the second. Tasted much better on the second day. Very smooth. — a year ago

8.9

A blend of 50% each Plavec and Vranec from a single vineyard in Macedonia.
Inky purple/black color. Nose is all brambles and leaf with a backing of spicy plum skin. Volume is large, texture is rich, oily and firming on the finish.
