Pretty fruit—classic Sangiovese nose. Very nice food wine. — 4 years ago
Delightful, funky, lightly carbonated, moderately tart. Would be great with cheddar/bleu cheeses. — 5 years ago
2013 Ontogeny Proprietary Red is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Petit Verdot, and 10% Cabernet Franc, coming from some of Russell Bevan’s favorite vineyard sources – Sugarloaf Mountain, Two Dogs, Tin Box and Tench. Quite flavorful, it is exhibiting slightly more new oak than some of the other cuvées, but is still sexy and opulent, with voluptuous texture, low acidity, and oodles of juicy, succulent black and red fruits, licorice, underbrush and a touch of vanillin. An already irresistible beauty, it can be drunk over the next 20 years. — 10 months ago

Complex, brooding and reflective of a solid vintage! Pointed acid attacks quickly, then gives way to impressive tannins that are fine grain and reach high - filling the roof with wonder & amazement. Lamb burgers, np!! — 5 years ago
Delicious! No funk. Light/med body, fruit forward, currants — 5 years ago
My husband is a scotch drinker, but, this was given to him as a Christmas present last year.
He landed up opening it up last week to try, and really liked it. He’s had a glass every night so far.

Stunning Wine with caramel and honey notes. Pleasant toffee. Acidity through the roof! Great finish for a meal! — 8 years ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several hours. The 2008 Special Club pours a straw color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing and somewhat shy but there’s citrus, white peach, brioche and a rather fascinating smell that reminded me of a built-up roof. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose however here, it’s much richer and expansive. The finish is long. Young? Probably. Drink now through 2038. No disgorgement data. — a year ago
The wine hits the back of the roof of the mouth with a dairy-heavy caramel flavor that is amazing and somehow manages to finish totally dry and clean. An amazing effect. — 5 years ago
Can’t afford to buy Realm anymore - their prices went through the roof right after their scores did the same a number of years ago - but as one of their original customers from the 2002 vintage I still have quite a few of the earlier vintages in my cellar. This 2009 Beckstoffer is absolutely fantastic. Classic Napa cabernet with great aromatics, great fruit along with some secondary flavors, and impeccable balance leading to a long, lingering finish. Just brilliant. — 5 years ago

Very nice. Ripe cherries. Simple note, but smooth and delicious. Buy again (if avail) - from Proof Cellars — 6 years ago
I love how Greco is full bodied, yet still has searing acidity and rich minerality. This bottle dials it up just past my preference level. Suuuper tart green apple and lemon, with acid through the roof. Has great chalkiness and savory mineral texture, but the acid is the driving force. I’m happy to have enjoyed this but ideally I’d want a bit more richness to the fruit. Well made none the less. — 7 years ago

Now this is Pinot Noir the way it was meant to be! Floral, more subtle and less in your face like Meomi or Belle Glos. The nose is shy upon opening but after a couple of decanter days, it’s really come alive! Excellent with pork or salmon and turkey, it’s great for sipping or pairing. The mouthfeel is excellent and the flavors linger long after your last sip. Never thought California Pinot could be so authentic tasting. — 8 months ago
