Paired w/salted caramel Panna Cotta — 4 years ago
One of the few Chianti Classico I really love even if we find no trace of Canaiolo in this Sangiovese and Merlot blend. Noble woods give strength and austerity to a splendid bouquet of red fruits and officinal herbs. — 8 years ago
Another wine I bought from Garagiste but then was shocked when it came in that it was 15.5%. So I waited to have it with a very rich Italian braised chuck roast, and hoped that the body and alcohol would cut through the richness of the food. Bingo! It was an inspired pairing. The nose is complex, with macerated plum, leather, humus, baking spice, violets. In the mouth the alcohol is prominent, but the flavors are relatively intense and not jammy. This really needs a rich braised meat dish to not seem jarringly out of balance. I’ll give it a 9.1, but with that caveat. — 2 months ago
2007. Brought it home from Mendoza. Well aged, smooth, and ready to drink. Some red fruit and few tannins. Malbec has balanced out a lot over the years — 5 years ago
Amazing wine. Paired really well with basciola and paprika pork. Bought for $60, originally priced at $100. On its own, the smell was hot with high alcohols (fusely). With food, the alcohols were less perceptible. Full bodied, very tannic. Other than the alcohol, smell had licorice and cherry. Taste had strawberry, licorice, spicy, cherry. Would love to have again. — 4 months ago
The 2018 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is darkly alluring, with a sweetly scented bouquet that blends medicinal cherries with sage, dried roses and baking chocolate. This is surprisingly juicy and lifted in feel, with zesty acidity motivating depths of ripe wild berry fruits as sweet spices collect toward the close. It finishes gently tannic, with a cranberry crunch that adds a lovely punctuation. (Eric Guido, Vinous, February 2024)

Great, just great. Better than some amarones. Has also some time ahead, no hurry to open ( if you can resist) — a month ago
