Camp Four Vinyeard Railsback Sœuer Vermentinu 2021

11.9%. Quite light bodied. Perfumed. Sweet pear and melon on the nose. Nice delicate wine but I think I’ve decided I don’t love Vermentino as a grape outside a few mainland Italian versions. Never really does what I want it to. Gimme more acid! — 2 months ago

Faustine Vieilles Vignes Vermentino 2022

Wonderful and unique vermentinu from Corsica. Has a real unique herbal note that comes through. Very nice mouthfeel and finish. Balanced and delicious. One of the more interesting whites I’ve had in a long time. — a year ago

Cantina di Torra Albore Patrimonio Vermentinu

Albore Vermentinu Patrimonio ( Corsica) by Nicolas Mariotti Bindi. No vintage mentioned. Lovely fresh white, with a gorgeous salty finish. The wines from this lovely small producer are hard to find but well worth the search. Very low sulfites (< 15 mg/l). Abv. 13%. — 2 years ago

Clos Canarelli

Corse Figari White Blend 2021

Take us to Corsica!!

We’re prepping for an upcoming class with this beauty, which comes from the southern tip of Corsica (the most southerly wine region of France 🇫🇷 ); an appellation called Corse Figari AOC.

The vineyards are farmed biodynamically (certified since 2006) and are situated on a plateau at the base of the Omu di Cagna mountain ⛰️, not far from dramatic Bonifacio cliffs rising up from the azure blue waters of the Mediterranean.

It’s made with Vermentinu (aka Rolle or Vermentino) by Clos Canarelli, devoted to producing high quality terroir-driven wines made with indigenous varieties.

This wine offers a bouquet of lemon and orange peel, white peach, crisp green apple, just-ripe pineapple, honeydew, citrus blossom, elderflower, crushed stone, arugula, and custard.

It is both vibrant and rich with a creamy mouthfeel and layered complexity. It’s absolutely delicious and we cannot wait to share it next month.

Patrimoio Rosé 2017

Salty, crunchy, blood orange, and lemon citrus, mineral inflected attack that fans out to salt and fruit in the finish. Not for everyone but a nice change from your typical rose. — 3 years ago
