The “Un-Rose” as I like to call it. Nose is strawberry, cherries and citrus. So clean. On a mineral bed. Smells like summer. Watermelon as well. Blood orange with air. Dense, deep and sappy for this wine as 18 vintage carries a lot of weight with it, but it’s so caressing, so supple and so succulent the extra weight is carried off effortlessly. Amazing palate presence and finesse. The palate is surprisingly mineral with some mid season cherry fruit. This will open as it aerates. But this is best since 15 for me. — 4 years ago

Happy Father's Day 2020 to all; I'm posting pictures of our fur-kids, an independent and somewhat self-interested bunch. Two boys (9) and two girls (3), all rescued from various locations across the East Coast of the US. They generally bring the utmost of joy to my life on a daily basis.

Nose has blackberry jam on moist leather, minor cedar, very light barnyard notes, grilled blackberry,
blueberry compote, brewed dark roasted coffee, wet garden soil, chocolate vines candy and dried orange peel.

Palate has over-ripe blackberry, wet tanned leather, dark chocolate syrup, dehydrated black cherry, chocolate covered blueberry and moist cedar.

Silky smooth, intense finish running +2m, still showing tannins. Expect this bottle to easily hold another 10+ years without concern, in proper storage.

Decanted ~5h. Paired with well salted (in advance), medium-rare, grilled NY strip steaks from my favorite, local farmer in Columbia Co. NY (Kinderhook Farm) and sauted, early season, baby squash in ozro with our garden herbs.

INAUGURAL vintage on this wine, I certainly didn't realize that fact when we bought it in September 2005! This has been in storage for the prior 15 years, just coming back home in January 2020.

A nose of lemon, lime and melon with a slight touch of ok but nothing too much. The palate shows a crisp acidity with salinity and yet enough richness and a nice roundness to make it very balanced, fairly good length too. Enjoyed at the lake by a beautiful crazy hot summer day.

Happy Farther’s Day. The color in this wine is a dull red with a brown rim. On the nose there’s cedar, tobacco and leather with hints of dark fruit and chocolate. The fore-pallet reminiscent of dark fruits, again. The mid-pallet has earthy and savory flavors with an acidic and tannic but prolonged finish. — 4 years ago

Saturday night I opened the 2018 Cliff Lede Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc. I over chilled the wine so I waited until it came back to a more reasonable temperature. Over chilling muted the aromatics. Once it was at the appropriate temperature the aromas came back very nice.

On the nose there were notes of white peach, Asian pear, bell pepper, jalapeño, tarragon, ginger, lemongrass, herbs and wet concrete.

On the palate the is grapefruit, lemon/lime, white peach, white flower, herbs and nice minerality.

This wine is light to medium bodied and the is a smooth oily mouthfeel with a medium + to high acidity that leads into a long citrus finish. Happy Fathers Day to all the Fathers out there. Have a great day, stay safe and be healthy. Nostrovia! 🥂🥂🥂🥂 — 4 years ago

In between primary and tertiary, leaning a bit into the tobacco and leather end. What a pairing to a local grass fed steak. Admittedly I overpaid at Mayacamas’s library release, to see where these go. It wasn’t worth the inflated price, but oh these age nicely. Plenty of stuffing left too. — 4 years ago
