Domaine Michel Niellon

Chassagne-Montrachet Pinot Noir 2019

Don’t have a lot of experience with red Chassagne but this was a nice bottle and a relatively good value on the list at The Grill. Probably better in a couple years, but pretty well balanced with good elegance, nice red fruit, and a bit of earth. — 2 years ago

I've only happened across a handful of Chassagne rouge myself, not a common wine IMO.

Miner Family

The Oracle Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2016

DE
9.5

Was completely blown away to find this wine and vintage at a Costco in Green Bay Wisconsin at an amazing price point. Balanced layered with legs and stood strong with the prime filets. Will be looking to cellar some of this very soon. — 2 years ago

Isosceles Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2017

The Paso Robles Cab which is standing up to the Napa latest and greatest and a young gun at that. The nose is mossy, musty with underlying fruit and spice notes. The mouthfeel is meaty, chewy, gamy almost, with a ripe fruit coating the palate, medium minus acidity, high alcohol, dry, it’s got a short finish with notes of dark chocolate and licorice… It works! Avant-garde-ly in away: hot climate Cab done right. — 2 years ago

Château Palmer

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 1970

Tasted blind. From magnum. Deep dark tawny color, opaque. Notes of cherry cola, earth, black fruit, gravel/stone, red cherries. Seems old, lacking tannin or acidity. My guess was an old Graves bottle from the 30s. This was fun to follow over the evening as it really blossomed in hours 7-9. — 2 years ago

Wow, I absolutely adore older Palmer!!

La Rioja Alta

Gran Reserva Viña Arana Rioja Tempranillo 2015

This 2015 Gran Reserva from La Rioja Alta is one nice surprise after another. Not too revealing, neither visually, nor bouquet-wise. Nice, but unremarkable. But what a welcoming experience at the palate!
The vanilla infused boysenberries and plums dance on your tongue. The beautiful Rioja wood tone and tannins keep the fruit crisp, and dry. Rose petal softness and finesse in the very long and gratifying aftertaste round the experience. Definitely a keeper!

Château Calon-Ségur

Le Marquis Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

Mulberry, black rasberry, eccalyptus and black tea aromas. Hints of pine sap and cedar. Plush and soft on the palate. Essentially an equal part split of Merlot and Cabernet. Plum, blackberry and forest notes. Length and depth of flavor are there too. Merlot brings a presumable softness. Very approachable, but no rush. — 2 years ago
