Chappellet

Mountain Cuvée Proprietor's Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2013

Wow.

Had to take a breath there before I said anything. Chappellet doesn't have the words "disappointing" or "mediocre" in its vocabulary. Phillip Titus is the bomb, and the mountain cuveé is arguably Chappellet's best bottle, most certainly for the price of only $30!
The nose on this one was almost the best part, of which I could have been lost in for what seemed a lifetime. Fresh pencil shavings, fresh brewed espresso, anise, dried tobacco leaf, wet slate, dried violet petals, and smoke engulfed the entirety of my nostrils. Dark purple and very concentrated, the pallet exhibited notes of smoked chocolate, dark mulled berries, luxardo cherries, graphite, white pepper, and ending in a finale of mocha goodness, all wrapped together in a perfect tension of acidity and flawless tannin structure.

I almost didn't write about this one. I just wanted to sit back and relax, letting the cuveé show me around the mountain.

I will say though, temperature plays a huge role. Best served at 64°, which the restaurant adheres to.

Yikes. Makes trying to enjoy aromatics impossible, ha.

Stoller Family Estate

Dundee Hills Pinot Noir Rosé 2014

Ahhhhhhh. #RoséSeason is here and this beauty from @stollerwine is laced with zesty, crisp notes of watermelon, freshly sliced pineapple, roses and the aromas of Spring. Delicate, yet layered with complex red fruits - oh yeah. Gorgeous acidity rounds out the fruit to perfection. #bliss #ORwine — 10 years ago
