Wow.
Had to take a breath there before I said anything. Chappellet doesn't have the words "disappointing" or "mediocre" in its vocabulary. Phillip Titus is the bomb, and the mountain cuveé is arguably Chappellet's best bottle, most certainly for the price of only $30!
The nose on this one was almost the best part, of which I could have been lost in for what seemed a lifetime. Fresh pencil shavings, fresh brewed espresso, anise, dried tobacco leaf, wet slate, dried violet petals, and smoke engulfed the entirety of my nostrils. Dark purple and very concentrated, the pallet exhibited notes of smoked chocolate, dark mulled berries, luxardo cherries, graphite, white pepper, and ending in a finale of mocha goodness, all wrapped together in a perfect tension of acidity and flawless tannin structure.
I almost didn't write about this one. I just wanted to sit back and relax, letting the cuveé show me around the mountain.

This stuff is great. Another stellar vintage. May have bought a case...for only $25 a bottle!! 🎅🏻📦🎄Cabernet Sauvignon 37% Merlot 35% Malbec 12% Petit Verdot 11% Cabernet Franc 5% #chappellet Dark dark dark ruby color with tons of fruit, chocolate syrup and burnt cedar on the nose. Surprisingly silky smooth and full bodied for a 2014. — 8 years ago
Got the experience of being in the first tasting of the 2013 Pritchard Hill from Chappallett, simply amazing. The fruit on the front, the balance of the estate mountain fruit. This will be a bottle I would love to re taste in 10 and 20 years because I believe it could lay down that long. — 8 years ago
So...I am officially out of daily drinkers and this one came into play. This falls within our category between think twice 🤔 & don't touch 🙅🏼. @Larissa Mitchell gave me the go ahead b/c she didn't care for the timeshare like presentation (& pressure) we got to purchase at the end of the tour. Quintessa makes a fine wine - no salesmanship needed.
My Sunday night challenge to you @David A Lentine @Martin G Rivard @TheSkip @Mike Rowe @Daryl Calhoun @Roy Goble @Carl Fischer @Jim Trobaugh @Mike Smith @Ron R @Charles Hetzel @David Goldfinger @David Trumper @Bill Bender @Paul T @Eric LaMasters @Eric Shanks @"Odedi" is to recommend Napa reds (Cabs, Merlot, Cuvée) from $30-60 so I can refill this week. Feel free to comment/tag me in a past wine for reference. #napavalleyforever #mitchellwinestorage
Lastly, Chicago Cubs let's get some runs!! Opening a good bottle of wine for luck!! #iaintafraidofnogoat
TN - The nose is strong with cassis and Rutherford dust. Makes me feel like I am laying on the side of the Silverado Trail. Decanted 1.5 hours and it needed it. Very silky on the tongue and dark ruby color. — 8 years ago

Showing very nicely for a 2013. First Chappellet Pritchard Hill and WOW is what I have to say. On a completely different level from Chappellet's other labels. Parker says don't touch but if you are in a bind this '13 is ready. However, it will be huge in a decade or two. Inky and full of berries. #pritchardhill #chappellet
The flagship wine, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Pritchard Hill is a blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Malbec, 6% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot aged 22 months in 100% new French oak. This is a 40- to 50-year wine and simply compelling. Inky bluish/purple with a stunning nose of white flowers, crushed rock, blueberry, black raspberry and cassis, this is a great, great effort in this vintage, which is not that surprising, but this youthful wine still seems in its infancy and certainly has huge upside to it. It’s very deep and full-bodied, but still coiled very tight and restrained, this should turn out to be a tour de force and a great offering in 2013. Don’t touch it for another 5-7 years. — 7 years ago
