Drank 10\25\20. Excellent with Rigatoni Bolognese.

Reidel vs Zalto tasting, round 2

Riedel Veritas Old World Syrah glass ($30\stem)
Red cherry, earth, tar scents abound. Red and black cherry accompany leather and earth on the medium palate. Finishes with black cherry, earth, and a bit of tar. A bit bigger than in the Zalto glass.

3\21\8\4\4 +50 =90 pts

Zalto Bordeaux glass ($60\stem)
Red cherry, and more pronounced earthy scents, with a touch of tar. A bit sweeter, and lighter on the palate with more red cherry, and a bit of earth. Sweeter on the finish. Strangely the finish, which is dominated by red cherry, is lighter and seems to end a bit more quickly.

3\22\8\4\3 +50=90 pts.

Again, a similar score, but my preference is for the Reidel stem this time, which is a bit unfair, as the varietal specific glass is the correct shape for the wine. Of note, my wife did prefer the zalto, but she generally prefers a lighter wine.

Surprisingly flavorful and intentional. Gives true meaning to term baby Brunello. Pls can I find it in states? Bought at butcher.

Light ruby in color with light intensity and a red rim.

On the palate, blueberries, cherries, plums, oak, vanilla, licorice, cloves, spices, peppercorn, pencil lead and dirt.

Medium Bodied with high acidity and nice legs.

Sour on the palate, with sour cherries, strawberries, cranberries, raspberries, oak, forest floor, earth, spices and peppercorn.

Medium finish with soft tannins and tart strawberries.

A Good food wine, but not so much by itself. Complex and interesting but not balanced. This is Not my taste, too tart for me.

Unfiltered and made from mostly Sangiovese grapes.

14% alcohol by volume.

Very reasonable Tuscan red. Balanced, earthy and medium-full bodied. Had it with grilled lamb and it was a perfect match.
