It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!

Dark ruby color with a reddish rim.

Fruity nose of red and black fruits with cedar, vanilla, licorice, light earth, spices, chocolates, herbs and peppercorn.

Full-bodied and elegant with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with black currants, black plums, cooked cherries, cedar, licorice, chocolates, herbs, light earth, spices, tobacco leaf, peppercorn and dark coffee.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This 7 year old Merlot from Napa Valley is drinking beautifully now. Elegant and fruit forward, complex and engaging. Smooth and soft. Nicely balanced with a great mouthfeel.

Drinking at its peak, and will continue to do so in the next 5 to 7 years. Needs a couple of hours to open up properly.

Good by itself as a sipping wine, or with food.

100% Merlot grapes were aged in French oak barrels for 9 months.

14.9% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$49.

Really impressed with this Merlot. Powerful fruit on the nose. Structured tannins. Layers or red and black fruit. Elegant and delicious.
