Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend

One of the best BDX QPR killers, never disappoints. The 2012 isn't quite there yet, quite linear and still tight, but the cassis / blackberry backbone is there, as well as an herbal scrub midpalate and pencil lead finish. Maybe not the deepest or broadest vintage, but quite enjoyable nonetheless, and at less than €20, tough to find a better true expression of old school BDX. Give it a year or two before checking back in, this won't have the legs of a classic vintage, but should provide great pleasure relatively soon.

Vintage 2012 / cassis autumn leaves good concentration well balanced

This shows exceptional. Black cherry, cassis, blackberry, cedar box, graphite, forest floor, baking spices and vanilla. Smooth tannin and moderate acidity. Lack of some depth on the palate but very good on this level.

Faint red fruit aromas and medium tannins, neither exhibiting fruit forward flavors nor oak ageing aromas. While body is balanced and inoffensive, still fees tight after more than an hour in the decanter. Perhaps not quite ready to drink, but a bit of an underperformed at its price point

Blackberry, plum, black cherry, touch of oak.

Black fruit, earth, cassis and baking spices. Delicate on the nose. M acid, body, and tannin. Not overly oaked. Balanced.

From a challenging vintage, this is drinking nicely now. Cassis, black currant, warm spices, graphite, and hint of purple floral. The palate is juicier than the nose suggested. Medium acidity. Mellow tannins.
