Earthy nose and medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with nice complexity.
Showing black currants, plums, cooked cherries, earth, wet leaves, herbs, light vegetables, coffee, eucalyptus, mediterranean spices and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 28 year old is still drinking very nicely. A great Second Growth Bordeaux.
Good right out of the bottle, and better after 45 minutes of airtime.
Complex and engaging. Will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 years.
A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot. Aged in (65% new) French oak barrels.
13% alcohol by volume.

Tremendous integration, focused and complex, black currants, graphite, cigar box and classic cedar. The finish is mesmerizingly long and the texture is ultra silky and seductive.

Everything you want out of St Estephe (even though the chateau is famously close to Pauillac from a terroir perspective...) Black currant, plums, leather, green tobacco, iodine, olive tapenade, but velvety soft so the austerity doesn’t extend to the tannic structure.

Tried côte à côte with the Gruaud Larose 375ml, this was a little one dimensional, primary fruit, showing more oak, think it needs another 5 years.

Lots of mushroomy earth and wet leaves. Some barnyard and animal funk. Black and res fruit intermingled but this is an earth bomb. Just the way i like it.
