Dark ruby in color with a wide brick rim.
Beautiful nose of raspberries, cherries, currants, plums, licorice, chocolates, herbs, spices, earth, light vegetables, tobacco leaf and peppercorn.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with blueberries, black plums, cooked cherries, light oak, licorice, chocolates, herbs, spices, earth, light vegetables, tobacco leaf, coffee and black pepper.
Long finish with round tannins and cherries.
This 22 year old Mourvèdre from Bandol still feels fresh and engaging. Elegant, and starting to peak now. Well balanced and rich. Spicy and entertaining.
A gorgeous wine that will continue to drink nicely in the next 10 years.
Good right out of the bottle and a great sipping wine. Fruit forward, complex and interesting.
A blend of 90% Mourvèdre and 10% Grenache. Aged in large French oak barrels for 20 months.

This was the best Pibarnon and one of the best Bandols I’ve had - decanting filled the room with a startling and wonderful aroma of blueberry pie. There was more in the glass, with meat and earth, too. Just like the recent 2004 Pallieres, these classically made Southern French wines just need enough time. I haven’t bought much from these areas lately, but these bottles are making me rethink that.

CHÂTEAU DE PIBARNON BANDOL 2003 Dark rust color with orange edges indicating age.Beautiful floral bouquet upon opening. Medium texture, flavor of stewed prunes, raisins and light tobacco notes. Lovely complexity and softness. It was worth the wait.

Trisha gbp 140. takes time to open up but this is one of the best full body wines i've had. there's intense grapes and there's this. extremely clean finish, full flavor, heavy. it's like eating just the grape skins without the bitterness-- beautiful!! 90% mourvèdre, 10% grenache.
