Tonight we had good life long friends over and we opened a wonderful this St. Julien Bordeaux. 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot. Just like how I like my Bordeaux, well balanced, good fruit and a sense of place. On the nose I can pick up notes of plum, black raspberry, black currant and a nice licorice. On the palate the is good dark fruit, black cherry, black raspberry, black currant, cassis, tobacco, and smoky campfire. I love the chewy tannins and a medium + acidity with a good long finish. Everything I look for in a quality Bordeaux.

Medium ruby garnet , medium garnet rim . Quite exuberant on the nose from the off , with grafite , spicy cassis , touch of dusty tobacco and spicy blackberry . On the palate this is elegant with refreshing acidity , cassis, cool
Blackberry dome mineral , oyster shell notes . Fine tannins and fresh acidity . Good red currant tinged tinged finish . Really elegant and refined , a good example of this vintage . Drinking perfectly now and over the next 8-10 years I would imagine .

On the palate more of the same dark fruits with tobacco and cedar notes, nice roundness, fills out on the palate , though with refreshing acidity . Ok finish , with ripe quite noticeable tannin and an earthy, mineral touch. Good now , though will continue to hold for a further 10 years .
