Needs decanting or time in the glass to fully express itself. At first pour it was all about black olives and chewiness and then over time the ripe black plums and cherries appeared and things mellowed out in a good way. #bordeaux #claret #stestephe #leftbank #leftbankbordeaux

May 7th, 2021Vintage 2010 / Fine complexity is developing, with a multi-layered smell. Vannilla, brushwood and stable. A taste with chocolate and mocca. And cherries. Years and years ahead but certainly a great joy to drink after aeration. #meyney #saintestephe

Aug 27th, 2018Meyney is always solid. Does it even need a note? You got it - dark fruit, bakers chocolate, graphite, smoked meat. Just barely approaching drinkability.

1 person found it helpfulMar 31st, 2019Vintage 2010 - gosh, what a difference a year makes... a year ago the wine was closed and stubborn. I gave it 4 hours aeration in the decanter. Still a purple rim in colour, red fruit, cedar, laurel, pencilshaving in smell, light chocolate impression, earthy taste with power, good aftertaste, nice acidity. 55% cab sauv, 30% merlot, 15% petit verdot, served it with Cantonese filet of beef, paksoi, garlic and onions. Lovely.

Aug 25th, 201540 min decant and we caved: Heady scent of savory cherry cake. Some deep birch beer and cola candy, snappy outro, redolent of flower petals.....totally vibrant now. Herbs and spices on the finish, all the sweetness diminishes and it’s got a pleasant bitter ring. Jess says ”girls like it.”
