Napa Valley Chardonnay

Drank at VA with grilled chicken and mahi mahi, hummus, rice, and naan. Good pairing. Light oakiness, grass, very slight tang. I like it. Probably in moderation since I’m not generally a Napa chard fan.

Tasted alongside the Kistler Sonoma Mountain Chardonnay of the same vintage, this wine opens with nose of ripe peach, lemon curd, lightly toasted almond, and a whisper of vanilla—echoing the Kistler’s profile. However, the resemblance stops there. Pineapple and underripe star fruit emerges, lending a refreshing, aromatic lift. On the palate, the tropical theme persists, layered with zesty lime and wet stone minerality. Bright, sharp acidity is balanced by a softly textured mid-palate. Clean precise finish.

Oak, pear, lemon, and mineral. It’s crisp and structured.

I don’t know why it’s taken so long to try this bottling. I have missed out all these years. Clean purity of fruit mild depth at this early age and just plain exciting. Definitely worth the wait
