The 2004 Montrose has a slightly rustic bouquet but is quite charming. It offers mainly red fruit, bacon fat, undergrowth and peaty scents, which are very Saint-Estèphe in style. The palate is medium-bodied with melted tannins. It is savory and a little dry, especially towards the finish, though there is good weight, and it is well balanced. Perfect to drink now. Such a BIG surprise!!! Astonishing balance where perfectly ripe cassis fruit, sweet and grainy tannins and juicy acidity have melded into complete, liquid sex. A great showing!!!

Mature and very pleasant, it has way time to get even better, complex, fruity light notes with tobacco, olives and oaky notes - keep on evolving a great way

Amazing proof that vintages do not matter sometimes. Elegant, persistent, yet solid as a rock. The nose was like a beautiful perfume, elegant, but complete with good hang time. Graphite, currants, fresh cut flowers, and fall leaves rise from the glass and caress the palate. Medium to firm tannins are starting to mellow. #montrose#stestephe#bordeaux
