Sipping Fine Wine

Owes its name to a man of the cloth born in 1264, Bertrand de Goth, Bishop of Comminges, in the Pyrenees Mountains, and later became Archbishop of Bordeaux in 1299. A blend, 58% Merlot, 38% Cab Sauv & 4% Petit Verdot, aged in 60% new French oak. Big fruit aromas with earthy spice notes. Blackberry & cherry flavors with tobacco and spice integrated with sweet tannins, lingering ending with earthy oak with a mineral tang. Excellent!

Time for #MerlotThursday. Here is a very enjoyable Pessac Léognan red.

Earthy with black fruits, chocolates, forest floor, black tea, peppercorn, leather, earth, oak, licorice, spices, coffee and pencil lead.

Still young and needs many more years in the bottle to mature properly.

This vintage is Merlot based, which is unique to this region. A blend of 57% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Petit Verdot.

Wine Enthusiasts 94 points.

Needs 3 hours to open up properly.
Good with food or just by itself.

Had it together with the 1998 and boy, what a difference. Time works its magic here in a big way.

I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses, but it is really nice with Brie cheese.

Aged for 20 months in 100% new French Oak barrels.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

A blend, 58% Merlot, 38% Cab Sauv & 4% Petit Verdot, aged in 60% new French oak. Deep Ruby with youthful pronounced red/black fruit aromas with spice notes. Blackberry, plum & cherry flavors with tobacco and spice integrated with sweet tannins, ling ending with earthy oak with a mineral tang. Excellent! Needs more time! Tasting Sample!

Killer nose, cherries, leathery and highly structured with fine tannins. Benefits from a long decant of an hour plus. In fact, I enjoyed my second day sip even more??!!! Definitely will benefit from a lot more aging. Opened on Christmas Eve 2021.

Wow Bordeaux at it finest the nose is popping with red fruit florals. The body and mouth feel is a typical of Bordeaux. It tingles every taste bud in your mouth. It keeps giving even when you think it should be over. As it’s young, we decanted for an hour. Rose blossoms and cherries led to smooth tannins. God i loved this
