Clotilde Legrand
Les Terrages Saumur-Champigny Cabernet Franc
Somewhat run of the mill but still a refreshing wine showing morello cherry and green bell pepper. Fine grained tannins would match nicely with duck breast.

Mar 27th, 2021This smells like a riper, fruitier kind of cabernet franc. The hot weather, perhaps? Aroma: cassis, cherry, pencil shavings, and a touch of green. Simple but pleasant tart berry taste, tomato juice, and short, slightly bitter aftertaste. Tannins are present but not too harsh. Excellent value for the price.

Oct 1st, 2020Today starts the long Labor Day weekend and I feel with the way the world has been turning that things have got to get better. Tonight I have opened the 2018 Coltilde Lagrand Saumur-Champigny Les Terrages Cabernet Franc. This is 100% Cabernet Franc and a lovely one at that, but I have always been partial to the Loire Valley Cab Franc.
On the nose there is black cherry, red plum, strawberry, raspberry, spice and crushed gravel.
On the palate I am getting tart cherry, raspberry, plum, gingerbread, green bell pepper and a bit of wet gravel.
This wine is medium to full bodied with medium + acidity and medium + fine sandy tannins that lead to a long pleasing red fruit finsh. Lets try to have a wonerful holiday weekend in the midst of such social unrest. Please be kind to one another, be safe and stay healthy. Nostrovia! π·π·π·π·

Itβs kind of amazing- & a bit frightening-to taste how a vintage makes a difference. Global warming? These cab francs now are so fruit forward & relatively big. I prefer the more swelte & acidic leaning versions.
