Nice depth of dark fruit up front, cherry and currant, moving to a clove and cocoa middle. Good range of flavors.

Saying this in the most positive way possible, this wine smacks your face with course tannins and intense mouth watering aromas. This varietal really does a phenomenal job of bringing the terroir into the glass and giving you a soil and herbal component throughout the nose and finish. Covered with black cherries, dates, black licorice, sea salted caramel, dark fudge, oregano, white pepper, rosemary, smoked salami, wet leather, shiitake mushrooms, barn dirt, and charcoal. The finish lasts over a full minute and takes you right to the vineyard. Savory acidity and solid complexity; underrated much? Balance is there... I'm impressed. Cheers!
