2000 and 2000 P2 side by side. Ones cork aged post disgorgement, the P2 aged on the lees and was disgorged like 3-4 years ago i think

It’s been five years since I last had the 2000 vintage of P2 and looking back on my notes, not a whole lot has changed though the autolytic notes seem to be more integrated into the entire package.

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2000 P2 pours a deep straw color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, ripe golden apple, raspberry, ripe soft rind cheese, a touch of mushrooms, lemon/lime citrus and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. Loads of energy still. This remains a very special wine. Drink now through 2040+.

Really fresh and dazzling on the nose. Lime, steeliness, salinity. A lovely rounded mouthfeel. Classy and delicious. Excellent

From magnum. Lovely and light in the nose. Minerality, oyster shells, great mouthfeel. Delicate midpalate with soft lemon and a long finish with fine acidity. Lovely

Served blind. The wine poured a deep straw color. On the nose, this nose is faking the funk on a nasty dunk! Slightly oxidative and reductive with funky apple and raspberry and autolytic. In fact, the nose is almost cheesy funky with some mushrooms too. On the palate, lush apples and golden raspberries with a touch of citrus. Absolutely fabulous acidity with a super long finish. There was a lot of underlying energy in this. I thought this was vintage Champagne from 2006. Wow…my first P2. Love this and an amazing pairing with beluga caviar.

Apple, vanilla, baking spice and brioche. Not as rich as expected and hard not to gulp.
