Domaine Lafarge Vial
Bel Air Fleurie Gamay
I had to carefully decant this, as it had a lot of that light, floaty sediment that starts zooming around if you even look at the bottle the wrong way. It’s got a light color, and loads of tangy cherry/ berry fruit, accented by a musky floral note and some stony minerality. In the mouth, it’s quite fluid and gulpable. Bone dry, but with nice pure fruit and lingering minerality. Deceptively complex.

Apr 11th, 2020Lafarge makes a great gamay. Juicy, tart cherries, cranberries, pomegranate, but also earthy and slightly stemmy. Complex.

Dec 10th, 2016That is superb. A new Beaujolais project from the hands of Frederic Lafarge. Glad. Had a chance to taste that today. 2014 first vintage. Avg 60 year old vines, 25% whole cluster, neutral oak, landing May 2016. This one was my favorite of the 3 tasted. A minor dust note on the nose, red fruit pops more, and there is a zing of tension and structure on the mouthfeel. Lip schmacking finish with cherries. Word is Frederic believes this is the vineyard best for cellar aging.
