100% new small oak barrel-aged, which was scandalous upon release (according to Dario.) Must have been good new oak because, apart from a touch more perfume than the others, and maybe some softness up front, this wine was fully in balance and quite expressive.

Tremendous!!! 1996 is such an amazing vintage and Clerico did his best here. Wow! Monforte in a glass!

Loved this on day 1 - strawberries, roses and Dr. Pepper. Irresistible .(95 pts). On day 2 more muted but still delicious. Dr. Pepper. Bumped score down 2nd day to 91.
