Tried twice! Napa property of Bordeaux producer Christian Moueix; wine is bottled at historic Napanook Vineyard. Blend of 89% Cab Sauv, 6% Cab Franc,5% Petit Verdot, aged 40% new French oak, dark Ruby, aromas of dark currant-like berries, tobacco & cedar. Palate layers of ripe blackberry, black cherry & cassis with vanilla, cacao & espresso. Well balanced, fine soft integrated tannins, long finish ending with floral, fruit, mineral & slight earthy character. Needs 6 years in the bottle but will last 20+ years! Good as Cab gets!

The 2018 Dominus has really shut down over the last year. I underestimated its imposing structure and density, both of which are on fully display today. The 2018 is a potent Dominus endowed with superb depth and tons of vertical explosive energy allied to a feeling of elegance that becomes increasingly apparent over time. So appealing for such a young Dominus. Bursting aromatics of ripe currants, blueberries, baking spice, flowers, green leafs, pepper, iron. I know Dominus ages gracefully but this is a treat to drink already today.

Needed to try one early, opened on Monday, poured a glass then immediately recorked the bottle. Decanted 4 hours the following day, obviously still 20 years too early, no amount of air makes up for bottle age. Spectator # 1 for the year plus a couple professionals gave it 💯 points. Nice to see Delectable is as unreliable now as it was 5 years ago, hence the reason never to pay for this app.
