Straight up Berry Jam on the nose. Same is true of the up front taste of the wine, but it's black berry fruits....not strawberry or other pit fruits. You definitely get some of the alcohol, being 15.4%, but it certainly isn't as extreme as the % might elicit. Finish is decent, longer than you realize until you take the time to pay attention. This is a better-than-good compromise of a New World selection for those that typically prefer Old World. ....well, it's certainly New World but I'd expect appreciation on the sheet quality of this wine.

My first Epoch wine. If I recall correctly, this is from the Paderewski vineyard? Very dense and soft. A medley of ripe red and black fruits with tobacco, fig and charcoal. The person who opened this thought it was off but it seemed appropriate for a Paso Blend...need to try another bottle.

The nose of fresh violet and brown sugar camouflage the depth of the palate. Beautiful soft tannins and intense cherry/berry make this wine wonderfully complex on all levels.

2011 Vintage. 15.4% Alcohol. 38% Syrah, 24% Grenache, 21% Mourvèdre, 10% Tempranillo, and 7% Counoise. 56% from Paderewski Vineyard and 44% from Catapult Vineyard. Blackberry jam nose and fruit profile that did better with 2+ hours in the Magnum decanter while watching NYE programs including “I’ll have what she’s having”.

Wow! Deep dark fruit with lots of character, from the first whiff to the lingering taste on the tongue. Handles the high alcohol content of paso wines like a champ.
