Serralunga d'Alba Barolo Nebbiolo

A new Italian wine to me, courtesy of @Mark Flesher opening this alongside his ‘16 Kistler Hudson. I tend to enjoy my Italian wines with bigger fruit and this one was pretty close to hitting that. Still has classic notes of tar, rose petal and bing cherries, but the fruit has shed its harsh tartness of its youth with age and is channeling some darker mulled traits. Mark mentioned cola as a note when we were tasting this and I think that was one of the main notes that stood out here.

Decant 30 minutes...tart and rich black and red cherries, black tea, big but inregrated tannins and high acid, long finish..paired perfect with wifes lasagna...

Popped and poured; consumed over two days. Dark cherries, tar, black tea and wet rocks. Tart black cherries and black berries. Plenty of structure to last. Came across just a touch hot on the second day.

Very pretty. 2010. PS Decanted for an hour.

Excellent body, soft tannins, tar, sweet fruit, bargain for the price!

This is drinking wonderfully. Balance and developed and surprisingly affordable. (Relatively.)

Firm & ripe fruit, elegant, spicy, slightly foresty Serralunga character.

Good 1L of Barolo

Nice berry. But aging. Seems just a smidge past. More vacation time with my brother, B, son, A, and husband S.

Tart cherries and balanced tannins make this decided simple wine a delicious treat. You can't talk to me about Nebbiolo, though. Barolos are some of my favorite wines for their character and intensity. I am unabashedly biased.
