Klinker Brick
Old Vine Lodi Zinfandel
Opened to use in ragu and was shocked how much we liked it. Someone must have brought it over (Jim?)

Nov 6th, 2022While I can't quite meet the WE critic who gave this wine 92 points, I definitely agree that is "liberally spiced with oak." In fact, when I first opened the bottle, all I got was this liberal spice, and even more heat (15.4% ABV)! The pepper and alcohol overpowered everything. Then tonight I revisited it and I'm glad I did. The wine had mellowed the eff out, revealing beautiful cherry and strawberry fruit flavors, along with cinnamon, chocolate and sweet pipe tobacco. 100% Zinfandel. 9/7/22.

Jul 2nd, 2022Good deal at Costco. Weighty bottle with painted on cool bricks 🧱 on it. Deep red color. Maybe a slight edge of rust like a brick. Aroma is perfumed and floral for a Zin. Some ripe fruits also come through. Flavors are ripe, jammy and classic OVZ. Has a nice chewy and dry finish though. Light handed with the oak and the Zinfandel flavors really shine through. Black fruits, tar, and some black peppercorns. Not quite the complexity of the best Sierra Foothills Zins, but really enjoyable Lodi OVZ. This would pair with grill or smoked meats🥩 quite nicely. Classic.

Apr 8th, 20222018- a little sweeter and more bright fruit than you expect from a Lodi old vine Zin. Still has a strong peppery finish with hints of woodiness.
